Costs and Trip Length

Amazonia Expeditions is open all year round, which allows for you to come whenever you’d like and stay for however long you want.

The Amazon Rainforest, and the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo reserve in particular, is a beautiful mosaic of ecosystems with unique communities of flora and fauna. In order to see more than just one or two of these ecosystems during your stay, an investment of several days is recommended.

For any period of time that you decide to stay at one of our lodges, the amount of activities you do is entirely based on your interests. If you want to take it easy with one or two activities coupled with down time at the lodge, you can do that. But, if you’d rather experience intense hikes and pack as many activities into your day as you can, that is also available at no extra cost. Regardless of what you choose, three meals will be provided. We can offer half day morning and afternoon excursions between meals at the lodges, full day excursions with picnic lunch, or  multiple day wilderness camping trips. Your guide is even available for before dawn and evening excursions at no extra charge.

Although you can choose from any length of time longer than 2 nights for your stay, we recommend staying for at least 8 days to see as much of this incredible region as you can.

The cost of some sample itineraries can be found below. No single supplement is charged for solo travelers, but families or groups may qualify for a discount.

Your Guide

Included in the cost of your trip is a personal guide who will accompany you or your party throughout all of your activities. Each evening your guide will discuss a selection of activities that you can choose from for the next day. Based on weather, current wildlife activity patterns and other logistics, a variety of activities will be suggested. Your guide will be available to consult and help you to choose which activities best suit you. Your guide will be available from before dawn, throughout the day, and into the evening to allow you to fit in all of the activities you hope to do, whether it be sunrise birdwatching, or to observe nocturnal wildlife activity.

Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Region

Amazonia Expedition’s exclusive access to the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo reserve provides you with the opportunity to experience an unmatched variety of wildlife. The site has more species of monkeys than any protected park or reserve in the world. Scientists have also documented the greatest diversity of species of mammals and birds of any site studied in the lowland Amazon basin. We also have two species of freshwater dolphin, sloths, giant river otters and much more.

During your stay in our lodges, you will have a wide range of activities to choose from. Some activities may be unavailable for that day due to weather conditions, season or other logistical concerns. Here are some of the favorite options for activities with Amazonia.

Things Guests Are Saying

We had a fantastic time in Peru. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent. Our guide Javier was amazing, he was really good with the boys. We saw over 160 species of birds, 11 species of monkey (including the red uakaris) as well as snakes, insects, spiders and frogs. Our trip was everything we could have hoped for and more. Many thanks to you and your team for an unforgettable time
